Jennifer Aniston stars as an anchor who herself becomes the news in the Season 2 teaser for “The Morning Show,” returning to Apple TV+ in September.

On the Season 1 finale, beloved morning host Alex Levy (Aniston) quit the show live, on the air, after exposing some of the network’s darkest secrets. In the teaser for Season 2, Levy has been thrust into a different kind of spotlight. She’s gone from famous to infamous, gracing the cover of tabloid magazines and sitting down for probing, primetime interviews about what went wrong. In an effort to rehabilitate the network’s image, however, executive Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) is hellbent on getting Levy to return to her old job.

“I don’t want to,” Aniston says in the clip (above). “I’m not coming back.”

Disgraced anchor Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), meanwhile, fired over a sexual misconduct scandal, might be attempting a comeback of his own. “There will always be a part of me that wants to be liked. I never wanted this person,” he says in the clip.

“The Morning Show” also stars Reese Witherspoon, Mark Duplass, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and series newcomer Julianna Margulies. It debuted to critical acclaim in November 2019, just a few days after Aniston sat down with Howard in Los Angeles and opened up all about it, telling him that Carell’s character was not in fact modeled after any specific real-life embattled morning anchor.

“[Carell] is the archetype for those, unfortunately, many men,” Aniston said. Watch a clip from their conversation (below).

“The Morning Show” Season 2 debuts Sept. 17 on Apple TV+.
