U2 just dropped “Your Song Saved My Life,” the Irish rock legends’ first new song since 2019.

The tune was written for the forthcoming animated sequel “Sing 2,” starring Stern Show veterans Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey, Eric Andre, Pharrell Williams, and even U2’s own frontman Bono. It marks the animated feature debut for Bono, who will be voicing the character Clay Calloway.

U2 has written several original songs for movies over the years. They’ve even been nominated for a couple Oscars with “Gangs of New York’s” “The Hands That Built America” in 2003 and “Mandela: Long Walk Home’s” “Ordinary Love” in 2003. Other artists featured on the “Sing 2” soundtrack include Elton John, Billie Eilish, and Pharrell, among others.

When Bono and his U2 bandmate the Edge sat down with Howard back in 2017, the rockers didn’t talk animated movies but they did open up about everything from first fights to the time Frank Sinatra goofed on their wardrobe. Listen to a clip from the interview (below).
