Harry Styles Plays a Scraggly Singing Sea Creature in Wild ‘Music for a Sushi Restaurant’ Music Video

Song hails from pop superstar’s recent solo album, “Harry’s House”

Harry Styles finds himself on a literal chopping block in the wild new video for “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” a base-slapping bop off the 28-year-old pop superstar’s latest album, “Harry’s House.”

Directed by Aube Perrie, the clip begins with beach-going restaurateurs making a startling discovery: a bearded, shirtless, and heavily tattooed merman (played by Styles) has washed ashore. They drag the sea creature to their kitchen and prepare it for that evening’s menu, but their plan changes after Harry’s merman hits a few high notes and proves he can draw a bigger crowd on the stage than in the food. Unfortunately, all it takes is one bad performance before the singing merman is relegated back to sushi.

“Music for a Sushi Restaurant” is only the third single off Harry’s spring effort, following chart-smashers “As It Was” and “Late Night Talking.” “Harry’s House,” his third solo album since leaving One Direction, was a major topic of conversation when Harry made his Stern Show return in May. The singer-songwriter performed a couple of the album’s songs live for Howard and his listeners, too, including “Daylight,” which also owed a little inspiration to the ocean.

“It very much captures a moment of what was happening in the studio,” Harry told Howard of writing the tune. “We did an all-nighter, finished it, went out to the beach to watch the sun come up, and it was a nice moment of this album.” Check out his “Daylight” performance (below).

“Harry’s House” is available now.
