A second generation Hollywood star turns the cameras on his own family in a new documentary.

Marvel hero and megastar Robert Downey Jr. profiles his dad, celebrated artist Robert Downey Sr., in the upcoming Netflix film “Sr.” Directed by Chris Smith (“American Movie”) and shot over the course of three years, the lovingly irreverent film follows the last days of Downey Sr., an actor and underground filmmaker who passed away last year at the age of 85 after suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

“I just remember that cacophony of creativity, but mostly laughter,” Downey Jr. says of his dad in the trailer (above).

It’s a different kind of film for Downey Jr., known most recently for his role in blockbuster franchises like “Sherlock Holmes” and “The Avengers.” The actor has stopped by the Stern Show several times over the years, sitting down with Howard most recently in 2019 when he opened up about life after “Iron Man” and his memories of recently deceased Marvel mastermind Stan Lee. Check out a clip from his visit (below).

“Sr.” debuts Dec. 2 on Netflix.
