Sam Simon told Howard that, in addition to his work on “The Simpsons,” he’s been spending a lot of time managing the WBO Heavyweight Champion of the World, Lamon Brewster. Sam explained how he put up money to get Lamon started in his boxing career and is now making a killing because of Lamon’s success in the ring. Howard pointed out that most boxers never make any money for their managers, so Sam lucked out with Lamon.

Sam acknowledged that he didn’t expect Lamon to make as much money as he has and added that everything he touches seems to turn to gold. Sam went on to say that he recently won $22,000 at a poker tournament, which he thought proved his point.

Artie noted that besides all of Sam’s financial luck, he’s also one of the few Americans who have seen “Beer League.” Sam commented that “Beer League” has some big jokes and that it’s on par with the bigger comedies that have come out recently. Sam also reported that the crowd with which he saw the movie responded well to it. Because of all the glowing review Sam gave “Beer League,” Howard thought it sounded like the film has the chance to actually make back the $2 million it cost to make it. Artie told Howard that was all he wanted.
