A Moment With Fred

Early in the show, a caller asked for a moment with Fred, so Howard cued up Fred’s theme and opened up his mic.

Fred used his moment to recommend The History Channel’s “Story of US” miniseries, saying many people might be surprised to learn that “it was a gay guy who started the U.S. Army.”

Howard asked what he meant, so Fred told the story of General von Steuben: “I guess he was a general for hire. He’d work for any military organization and no one would hire him in Europe so he came over here and Washington hired him.”
