Howard noted that he’d also sat down with Jackie ‘The Joke Man’ Martling at the party and was miffed when Jackie repeatedly thanked him for the courtesy: “He always has a chip on his shoulder.”

Howard said he and Jackie were friends and had worked together for years: “Why wouldn’t I be sitting with you? Why would you thank me for sitting with you?”

Howard said the experience reminded him of a line from Paul McCartney’s ‘Too Many People’: “I’m your lucky break, and you broke it in two…I had to get out of there.”
