“I spent the weekend listening to a few Stone Temple Pilots albums and thinking about Scott,” Howard opened up this morning.

Scott Weiland, the talented vocalist behind STP and Velvet Revolver passed away on Thursday in his sleep while on tour. Weiland appeared on the Stern Show numerous times throughout the years going all the way back to the 1990s.

Howard said he was reading a New York Times piece over the weekend about Scott’s career, but thought “he wasn’t really given his due in the article.”

“There was real power in that music … When you’ve got a band behind you like this, you better be able to sing.”

Robin recalled that Scott was always looking good when he came in. “Every time he came in here he acted like everything was fine … I’m sad that he had such a troubled life,” Howard added. They both agreed that Scott really seemed to enjoy himself when he was on the show as opposed to a lot of the other interviews he did.

“I am so, so sorry to see Scott Weiland gone at the age of 48,” Howard concluded.
