Brent Hatley has had a number of roles in his lifetime already – “Bubba the Love Sponge Show” Executive Producer, candidate for the St. Petersburg City Council, Stern Show staffer — but at 19 years old he was serving the United States of America honorably as a Marine.

Brent didn’t always intend to be a Marine. In fact, his score on the military entrance exam qualified him to be trained as a computer programmer in the Air Force. He explained to Howard that he made the switch to serve in the Marine Corps after a recruiter “challenged [his] masculinity” in the hallway – the rest is history.

After getting whipped into shape at boot camp, Brent was shipped out to Saudi Arabia where he served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from August 1990 to May 1991 as an Aviation Operations Specialist, pressed into additional duty as a gunner/observer on a CH-53E helicopter. He was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for his actions during an operation in February 1991 while in Kuwait.

Check out photos of Brent from his days as a Marine below.
