On Monday, Benjy Bronk got into an argument with Brent Hatley over whether PETA was divided on the assessment that sex with an animal was abuse – a discussion which arose in light of Doug Stanhope's story about his mom jerking off the family dog.
"It is not a divided issue at all," Brent tried to tell Benjy, who would not accept the answer.
Today the issue was put to rest after Brent was able to get a comment from Lisa Lange, Senior Vice President of PETA: "Consensual sex is between two human beings who enter into it willingly, and that is never the case when an animal is dominated by a human. Having sex with an animal is raping that animal—something PETA has found in numerous eyewitness exposés of factory farms and slaughterhouses. Animals don't have a choice, and cruelty to animals is illegal in all 50 states. I hope that clarifies this issue. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me."
Despite the official comment, Benjy was still unable to accept the answer and continued to insist that he called PETA a couple of years ago for the show and they told him otherwise. Gary dug up an old news article and surmised that Benjy was taking one of the quotes out of context.
"It's not good enough for him," Howard said. "There's no such thing as a normal conversation with Benjy."
"Intellectually, when something is upsetting to you, you just shut it down," Benjy fired back.
Similar to how bands sometimes fight, break up, and get back together over the years, Howard explained to the audience that it was no different at the Stern Show where staff members sometimes rub each other the wrong way.
"He's upset; he's not even eating," Fred noted as he watched Benjy.
Switching speeds, Howard took Fred's comment and expanded that Benjy seems to have gained back some of the weight he had lost and Benjy said it was true.
"I've been going to Overeaters Anonymous," he revealed. "They like me there and say I'm a good person."
