Jeff the Drunk called into the Stern Show this
week to once again complain about his difficulties getting on the air, but this time a chorus of longtime
callers and Wack Pack members banded together and told him enough is enough.
The influx of opinions began after a revelation from Stern Show
staffer Shuli Egar. “Jeff has been on a tear all week, mad that you’re not
picking up on him,” he told Howard.
“Well, let’s find out what he’s calling for,” co-host Robin
Quivers suggested.
So, Howard got Jeff on the phone to explain himself. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the
Wack Packer immediately unleashed a string of expletives. “You know, I can’t
fucking get through since this whole fucking thing began? What the fuck? It’s
bullshit!” he screamed. “I don’t want to get on this way. Why don’t you ever
pick up and say, ‘Hey Jeff, how are you?’”
High Pitch Erik called in next and took his fellow
Wack Packer to task for his behavior. “What’s up with Jeff the Drunk?” Erik
asked. “Sometimes I don’t get on the air all the time, I don’t give you a
problem.”
Howard’s longtime stylist Ralph Cirella agreed. “If I call
in, I have an agenda, you know? I have a comment,” he said. “Jeff calls up and sits there waiting to pick up and go ‘Jeff, how you doing?’”
The outcry prompted Jeff to go on another tirade. “First of all,
fuck you, Ralph.” Then he called High Pitch an “asshole” and hung
up in a fit of rage.
Longtime callers Bobo and Mariann from Brooklyn called in
to voice their concerns, too. “He has things to say when he’s talking to me and then when
he calls you he fucking just doesn’t say anything, and I’m arguing with him and
he’s calling me and slamming the phone in my face,” Mariann told Howard. “Call
back, Jeff, and get your fucking points out!”
Bobo, meanwhile, pointed out that he—unlike
Jeff—rarely complained on the air. “I have my notes, my list of
questions—whether they’re good or not—I have an agenda. All Jeff does is
complain and then he hangs up on the host. That’s an embarrassment and that’s a
direct ridicule to you,” Bobo said … before going off on a tangent about his hatred for bandanas.
