What’s Coming to Netflix and HBO in January

Netflix and HBO Now have unveiled their new content for January 2017.

Netflix will add classic films like “The Shining,” “Boogie Nights,” “Braveheart,” and “Caddyshack,” as well as a slew of new originals, including “A Series of Unfortunate Events” — starring Stern Show guest Neil Patrick Harris — and “Cinco,” a stand-up special from Jim Gaffigan.

The digital streaming giant parts ways with several series and films in January, too, including nine “30 for 30” documentaries, “Coming to America,” two “Fast & Furious” films, “Dazed & Confused,” and seven seasons of “Columbo.”

HBO Now, meanwhile, will offer up a handful of star-studded films coming straight from theaters, including “The Boss” — starring recent Stern Show guest Melissa McCarthy — and “Now You See Me 2,” which stars past Stern Show guest Woody Harrelson. HBO Now will add a few modern classics to its archives, too, like “The Big Lebowski” and “My Cousin Vinny,” as well as a ton of M. Night Shyamalan thrillers, including “The Visit,” “The Sixth Sense,” “Unbreakable,” “The Village,” and the Mark Wahlberg-versus-nature film “The Happening.”

It’s also the last chance to catch “The Martian” and all five “Dirty Harry” films before HBO removes them at the end of December.
