VIDEO: Metallica Drops New Single, Announces Long-Awaited New Album

"Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" marks the legendary band's 10th studio album

It's been eight years, but Metallica is roaring back in a big way.

The legendary metal band and friends of the Stern Show Metallica have announced the release date for "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct," their 10th album (and first since 2008's "Death Magnetic"). Additionally, the band is rewarding the patience of their fans with not one, but two discs worth of new music (with a third added in the deluxe edition). "'Hardwired…' represents the next phase of our journey as Metallica and we are so excited to share it with you," the band said on their website.

The announcement was celebrated Aug. 18 on Minneapolis's 93X rock radio station, where Lars Ulrich played the first single from the album, "Hardwired," which can be heard above.
