Jerry Seinfeld and ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ Are Moving to Netflix
Streaming service will also receive two new stand-up specials from the comedy legend

Netflix seems to be the destination for stand-up comedy legends these days, so it seemed like only a matter of time before Jerry Seinfeld would land there.
The comedy icon signed a deal to bring his Emmy-nominated “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” over from Crackle, as well as two new stand-up specials from the former Stern Show guest, the first of which will be released later this year. The deal also includes the development of scripted and non-scripted programming.
“Jerry is known the world over as both a great TV innovator and beloved comic voice,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “We are incredibly proud to welcome him to the Netflix comedy family.”
“I am also very excited to be working with Ted Sarandos at Netflix, a guy and a place that not only have the same enthusiasm for the art of stand-up comedy as I do but the most amazing technology platform to deliver it in a way that has never existed before,” Seinfeld said. “I am really quite charged up to be moving there.”
“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” premiered in 2012 on Crackle and just began its ninth season. The webseries has featured such guests as Stern Show friends Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, Garry Shandling, and Chris Rock, among others. The entire series — which currently has more than 100 million views — would move over to Netflix, along with a new season coming in late 2017. Also, while Seinfeld has been touring consistently, the upcoming specials would be his first since 1998’s “I’m Telling You for the Last Time.”
