Video: Robert De Niro Is Bernie Madoff in ‘Wizard of Lies’ Trailer

Robert De Niro has portrayed his share of gangsters, but in HBO Films’ “The Wizard of Lies” he perhaps plays his biggest criminal yet.
On Wednesday, HBO dropped the trailer for De Niro’s turn as ponzi scheme architect Bernie Madoff. Directed by Barry Levinson, “The Wizard of Lies” explores the unfolding of Madoff’s scheme and its devastating effects on his clients, his family, and America at large. Famously, Madoff was sentenced in 2009 to 150 years in prison for the $50 billion loss he caused for his investors.
“The Wizard of Lies” also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as wife Ruth Madoff, with Alessandro Nivola, Nathan Darrow, Kristen Connolly, Lily Rabe and recent Stern Show guest Hank Azaria in supporting roles.
