VIDEO: Whitney Cummings Offers Up a Peek Under Her Hood in ‘The Female Brain’

Stern Show guest's directorial debut co-stars Sofia Vergara, Toby Kebbell, and James Marsden

June 15, 2017

Comedian, actress, and first-time director Whitney Cummings has finally offered up a look at her new film “The Female Brain,” an ensemble comedy about the science of attraction.

In the clip given to Deadline, Whitney plays a doctor who falls for one of her patients. Their meet-cute is narrated by voiceover and intercut with scientific-looking overlays and stop-motion animation which help explain the physiological underpinnings of gender differences and illustrate the forces at work in human chemistry.

In addition to directing and starring in the film, Whitney co-wrote the script for “The Female Brain” along with comedian Neal Brennan and Louann Brizendine, a neuropsychiatrist who authored the novel “The Female Brain” in 2006. The film’s co-stars include Toby Kebbell, James Marsden, 2015 Stern Show guest Sofia Vergara, “Saturday Night Live” star Cecily Strong, comedian Chris D’Elia, and NBA All-Star Blake Griffin.

Whitney last visited the Stern Show in 2016, ahead of her HBO stand-up special “I’m Not Your Girlfriend.” In addition to discussing Chris Rock’s hair advice, anal sex, and freezing her eggs, Whitney had much to say about romance. “I’m closer to knowing what love is supposed to feel like,” she told Howard.

“The Female Brain” premieres Saturday at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Check out the clip (above).
