Matthew McConaughey is evil and he knows it in a newly released behind-the-scenes look at the long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower.”

The movie star and recent Stern Show guest plays the Man in Black, a sinister entity facing off against Idris Elba’s gun-slinging Roland, who must try and protect the film’s titular tower from McConaughey at all costs.

Sony Pictures dropped the first trailer for the film in early May. This new clip (above), titled “The Legacy of the Gunslinger,” features footage from the film and interviews with Elba, McConaughey, and King.

“The Man in Black, he’s the evil in this battle of good versus evil,” McConaughey explains. “I need to bring down that Tower.”

In his January sit-down with the King of All Media, McConaughey told Howard all about his transition from romantic-comedy star to eventual Oscar-winning actor. Check out the full interview here.

“The Dark Tower,” co-starring Jackie Earle Haley, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Claudia Kim, and Dennis Haysbert, hits theaters Aug. 4.
