Prince’s Iconic Music Videos and Concert Footage Now Streaming on Vevo

Video hosting service announces page dedicated to the Purple One

July 7, 2017

In his lifetime, Prince was known to have a complex relationship with the internet — including asking all streaming services to remove his entire music catalog. But on Friday, Vevo announced the music videos for some of Prince’s most popular songs will now be available to watch on a page dedicated to the late, great Purple One. These uploads follow the recent NPG/Warner Bros. reissue/remastering of “Purple Rain,” which featured unreleased material and a concert film.

Vevo’s Prince page includes MTV classics like “When Doves Cry,” and “Let’s Go Crazy” (above), as well as live concert footage for “I Would Die 4 U” and “Baby, I’m A Star,” both live from Landover, Md. on Nov. 20, 1984.

Prince’s passing in April 2016 left ownership of the rights to his estate, as well as an unreleased music “vault,” up for court debate. However, this new Vevo page is the latest in a series of Prince releases since the performer’s death.

Earlier this year, a number of guests on the Stern Show — including Sheryl Crow, Adam Levine, and Jimmy Fallon — shared their personal stories about the influential musical artist. Actor Jamie Foxx even told Howard about his unforgettable first meeting with Prince at a 1999 New Year’s Eve party. Click here to read more from that interview.
