Paramount has dropped the official trailer for “Downsizing,” Alexander Payne’s new sci-fi dramedy about one couple’s quest to stop living large.

Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig play Paul and Audrey Safranek, a married couple fed up with their dull and stressful existence. After Norwegian scientists discover a way to shrink humans down so they can live in idyllic “downsized” communities, the Safraneks volunteer to become tiny and join one.

In addition to offering a glimpse of the Safraneks’ pint-sized paradise, the official trailer (above) introduces several of Damon and Wiig’s “Downsizing” co-stars, including Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Wiig’s “Saturday Night Live” colleague Jason Sudeikis, and Stern Show veteran Neil Patrick Harris. The film also features Laura Dern and Stern Show regular Alec Baldwin.

“Downsizing,” co-written by Payne and longtime collaborator Jim Taylor, premiered at the 74th Venice Film Festival and hits theaters Dec. 22. Watch the trailer (above).
