A talented but troubled boxer named Zac “Kid Yamaka” Wohlman wanders the Earth in search of wisdom and inspiration in “Why We Fight,” an upcoming docu-series executive produced by actress, Stern Show guest, and former UFC champion Ronda Rousey.

In addition to chronicling Kid Yamaka’s personal journey—which includes a career-threatening addiction to painkillers—the trailer for the six-part series (above) offers an immersive, gritty look at a multitude of other fighters across the globe, focusing not just their incredible skills and arduous training regimen but on the reasons why they choose to step into the ring in the first place.

Ronda shared her own story on the Stern Show when she visited in 2015, telling Howard not only why she fought but also what she planned to do after her MMA career was over, including continuing to star in action-packed film franchises like “The Expendables” and “Fast & Furious.”

“I know that you have a short shelf life fighting for real,” she told Howard. “It would be kind of cool to do something similar, but in a space where I don’t have to worry about dying.” Listen to more of their conversation (below).

“Why We Fight” debuts Oct. 18 on the digital network Go90. Check out the series trailer (above).
