Chadwick Boseman endures an eventful homecoming in the official trailer for Marvel’s “Black Panther,” a standalone superhero film following the trailblazing African American crime-fighter Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created back in 1966.

The latest trailer (above) shows T’Challa (Boseman), who made his big screen superhero debut in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” struggling to balance his newly inherited duties as both the king of Wakanda and also its vibranium-clawed protector Black Panther.

“You get to decide what kind of king you are going to be,” explains his former lover and bodyguard Nakia (played by Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o).

Additionally, T’Challa will have to contend with Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), a burgeoning supervillain who is both a genius and an expert fighter. “I’m [going to] burn it all,” Killmonger growls just before the trailer kicks into overdrive with a series of action montages.

“Black Panther,” written and directed by Ryan Coogler (who directed Jordan in “Creed” and “Fruitvale Station”), also stars “The Walking Dead’s” Danai Gurira, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s” Andy Serkis, Forest Whitaker, Daniel Kaluuya, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett. The film claws its way into theaters Feb. 16.
