Oprah Winfrey is desperate to find a hero in the official trailer for next year’s Ava DuVernay-directed adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time,” which debuted Sunday night during the 2017 American Music Awards.

The trailer (above) begins as a young girl named Meg (Storm Reid) is searching for her father (Chris Pine) who went missing after inventing a new way to travel across the stars. Meg teams up with her little brother (Deric McCabe) and her friend (Levi Miller) on the quest, which soon sees them cross paths with three witches played by Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, and past Stern Show guest Mindy Kaling.

What starts as a simple missing persons case eventually evolves into a grandiose battle between light and darkness spread across a cacophony of colorful planets.

“We are in search of warriors,” Oprah’s character, Ms. Which, tells Meg and her friends (above).

“A Wrinkle in Time,” adapted from Madeleine L’Engle’s 1963 novel, co-stars Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Beauty and the Beast”), and André Holland (“Moonlight”). It hits theaters March 9.
