HBO dropped the official trailer for its penultimate season of "Game of Thrones" on Wednesday. From the looks of it, there's more than just winter coming.
The 108-second peek at Season 7 starts in familiar territory, with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) plotting to help her family seize control of the Seven Kingdoms. Soon enough, however, the characters realize the friction between the human factions may be downright trivial when compared to the looming threat of the White Walkers headed down from the North.
"If we don't put aside or enmities and band together, we will die. And then it doesn't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne," Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) says.
“The Great War is here," resurrected fan favorite Jon Snow (Kit Harington) adds.
Fans of the show's original plot lines shouldn't fret, however, as the trailer also has enough dancing dragons, steamy romances, and Stark women in peril to keep even a scheming Littlefinger happy.
"Game of Thrones" returns Sunday, July 16 to HBO.
