VIDEO: Alexander Skarsgård Braves Dystopian Berlin and Paul Rudd’s Futuristic Mustache in First ‘Mute’ Trailer

Directed by David Bowie’s son Duncan jones, the upcoming Netflix film debuts on Feb. 23

January 31, 2018

Alexander Skarsgård silently scours a futuristic Berlin for his lost love in the first trailer for “Mute,” Netflix’s dystopian noir arriving late next month.

Skarsgård stars as Leo, an ex-Amish bartender who lost the ability to speak after a childhood accident. When his girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh) vanishes, he’s forced to search Berlin’s seedy underbelly for her whereabouts. In doing so he has to deal with a pair of wise-cracking American surgeons played by Justin Theroux and Stern Show veteran Paul Rudd, who in this film at least has traded in his Ant-Man outfit for a Hawaiian shirt and a bushy mustache.

Directed by Duncan Jones, the son of late music legend David Bowie, the film also features “Doctor Who” star Noel Clarke and Oscar-nominated “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” actor Sam Rockwell. Jones had previously directed Rockwell in the critically acclaimed 2009 mind-bender “Moon,” a film that reportedly exists in the same universe as “Mute.”

Mute” hits Netflix on Feb. 23. Watch the official trailer (above).
