There’s a salmagundi of possible scares in the newly released teaser for “Castle Rock,” Hulu’s upcoming 10-episode anthology series based on the works of horror master Stephen King.

Like the previous trailer for the show, set in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, this new one evokes several of the author’s classic works. The short teaser (above) begins with “Moonlight” star André Holland returning home after getting a call from Shawshank Prison, the fictional penitentiary immortalized in Frank Darabont’s adaptation of King’s “The Shawshank Redemption.” From there, the teaser flashes through a variety of images, including thick fog, a dark well, and a looming dog—possible homages to “The Mist,” “It,” and “Cujo,” respectively.

Those bits of dark imagery shouldn’t be the only things feeling familiar to King fans, however, as the teaser also features a few actors already immortalized in other King adaptations: Sissy Spacek, who played the tortured titular protagonist in the 1976 film “Carrie,” and Bill Skarsgård, who portrayed endlessly creepy Pennywise the Clown in the 2017 film “It.”

“Castle Rock,” executive produced by repeat Stern Show guest J.J. Abrams, also co-stars Melanie Lynskey, Terry O’Quinn, and Scott Glenn. The show debuts this summer on Hulu.
