AUDIO: Willie Nelson Announces Album ‘Last Man Standing,’ Drops Title Track

11-song LP arrives April 27, two days before the music legend's 85th birthday

February 16, 2018

Willie Nelson has announced plans to release “Last Man Standing,” an 11-track album filled with entirely new original material. The LP will hit shelves in April, just two days before the living music legend’s 85th birthday.

All of the songs on the album are co-written by Willie and his longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon, including the titular lead track, released on Friday in conjunction with the album news. Take a listen to “Last Man Standing” (above).

Despite canceling a few concert dates earlier this month after reports of health issues, the singer, songwriter, and past Stern Show guest apparently just can’t wait to get on the road again, as he has also just announced a new string of tour dates this spring and fall.

Willie has of course enjoyed numerous sit-downs with Howard over the years, including most recently in 2014 when he stopped by to discuss his album “Band of Brothers.” In addition to sharing wild tales from the road, he also wound up sharing the inspirations behind several of his classics, including “On the Road Again” and Crazy.” Take a look back at that conversation here.

“Last Man Standing” arrives April 27. Listen to the title track (above), get more information on Willie’s new tour dates here, and get a glimpse at the album’s full tracklist (below).
