AUDIO: Train Takes a Ride With Cam and Travie McCoy on New Single ‘Call Me Sir’
Track marks the band’s first single since its album “A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat”
May 25, 2018Train has enlisted the help of country singer Cam and Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes for its new single, “Call Me Sir.” Released earlier this week, the track is the Grammy-winning Stern Show guests’ first new song following the band’s 2017 album “A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat.”
“Call Me Sir,” sung with the two featured artists and Train frontman Pat Monahan alternating on verses, describes how a person’s social status can sometimes skyrocket. In a note published to the band’s YouTube channel, Monahan revealed the track is actually based on a true story:
“Our new song, ‘Call Me Sir’ features Cam and Travie McCoy. It’s a true story and I love what these 2 bring to the song. Hope everyone will like this one as much as we love performing it,” he wrote.
And performed it they have on the band’s ongoing summer tour, which features fellow Stern Show guests Hall & Oates as co-headliners and runs through Aug. 11 in Seattle.
Train has memorably joined the Stern Show several times over the years. When Monahan and company last visited in 2016, it was to promote an album comprised entirely of covers: “Train Does Led Zeppelin II.” Watch drummer Drew Shoals wow Howard by covering Zeppelin’s impressively difficult “Moby Dick” drum solo (below).
