Stern Show veteran Olivia Wilde gets swept off her feet by Oscar Isaac in the latest look at “Life Itself,” a multigenerational drama written and directed by “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman.

The newly released official trailer (above) begins with Wilde’s character wondering why Isaac’s character still hasn’t asked her out, to which Isaac is ready with an extra-smooth response. “I’m waiting for the right moment because when I ask you out there’s not going to be any turning back for me,” he tells her (above) over a montage of scenes showing the couple falling in love, getting pregnant, and dressing like characters from Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction.”

“I’m not gonna date anybody else for the rest of my life, I’m not going to love anybody else for the rest of my life,” he continues. “I’m waiting for the right moment because when I ask you out it’s going to be the most important moment of my life, and I just want to make sure that I get it right.”

In addition to Isaac (“Star Wars: The Last Jedi”) and Wilde (“Vinyl”), who made her Stern Show debut in 2016 and opened up about everything from her real-life romances to helping Sacha Baron Cohen make an appearance as Ali G at the Oscars, the “Life Itself” trailer also features Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Olivia Cooke, and “Homeland’s” Mandy Patinkin.

The film, which jumps backward and forward through time and across multiple continents, shares several obvious structural similarities with Fogelman’s Emmy-winning NBC melodrama “This Is Us.” When the show’s star Mandy Moore visited the Stern Show in June, she spoke to Howard all about working with Dan on “This Is Us,” even revealing how precisely she landed her part. Listen to a clip from her sit-down with Howard (below).

“Life Itself” opens Sept. 21 in theaters. Watch the official trailer (above).
