AUDIO: Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie Team Up to Cover the Beatles’ ‘Helter Skelter’

Rock stars release their version of the Paul McCartney-penned track ahead of a joint summer tour

July 12, 2018

Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson have kicked off their joint summer tour with a Beatles-inspired bang.

The rock stars and Stern Show veterans released a cover of the Fab Four’s “Helter Skelter” on Wednesday, just hours before taking the stage in Detroit for the first stop on their Twins of Evil – The Second Coming tour.

Zombie and Manson take turns singing the verses of their heavily distorted version of “Helter Skelter,” which some rock experts have argued is one of the first heavy metal songs ever. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Zombie described their cover as a “heavier, weirder, and more groove-oriented” take on the Paul McCartney-penned tune.

Manson and Zombie have of course appeared on the Stern Show multiple times over the years, with Zombie even having written the show’s theme song “The Great American Nightmare” just for Howard. Manson stopped by last year ahead of the release of his album “Heaven Upside Down” and discussed everything from his friendship with other famous rockers to a latex-fueled music video he made with actor Johnny Depp. Hear the full interview here.

The Twins of Evil — Second Coming tour runs through Aug. 29 at the FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, Calif. Get ticket info here and check out “Helter Skelter” cover (above).
