VIDEO: Tracy Morgan Voices a Toaster in Star-Studded ‘Animals’ Season 3 Trailer

HBO's genre-bending animated comedy series returns on Friday

August 1, 2018

New York City has truly gone to the dogs … and cats, rats, lizards, horses, birds, and talking toasters in the Season 3 trailer for “Animals,” HBO’s (mostly) animated comedy series about life in a (mostly) humanless, post-apocalyptic Big Apple.

Executive produced by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, the show’s upcoming season blends animation together with live-action segments set in an underground bunker where a handful of humans who have survived the “green bomb” fallout—Golden Globe-nominated actress Demi Moore among them—watch the animals go about their lives via surveillance footage.

The animals and (and a few choice anthropomorphized objects) voiced by Matarese, Luciano, and gobs of celebrity guest stars, including Stern Show regulars Johnny Knoxville and Tracy Morgan. “Are you my mommy?” Tracy, who plays a frantic toaster, asks in the trailer (above).

Other big names lending their voices to Season 3 include comedian and noted Stern Show shout-out veteran John Mulaney, actress Lucy Liu, Wrap Up Show regular Paul Rust, “Stranger Things” star David Harbour, “Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron, the rock band Dinosaur, Jr., “Private Parts” and “Sopranos” actress Edie Falco, “The Predator’s” Jacob Tremblay, and “Avengers” actor Anthony Mackie.

“Animals” returns Friday at 11:30 p.m. on HBO. Watch the official Season 3 trailer (above).
