Charlie Day and Danny DeVito star on the FXX sitcom, returning Sept. 5

FXX has dropped the Season 13 trailer for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the critically acclaimed sitcom that put Stern Show staffer JD Harmeyer on the directing map.

It’s been nearly 18 months since season 12 concluded, but it looks like the gang is picking up right where they left off—with their hands full. The promo (above) teases several new and continuing story lines, including Charlie’s (Charlie Day) quest to have a child, Dee (Kaitlin Olson) diving head first into feminism and the Time’s Up movement, and Mac (Rob McElhenney) further exploring his newly embraced sexuality.

It also boasts plenty of laughs courtesy of a thinly veiled “Seinfeld” reference, Frank (Danny DeVito) sealing a wound with “lemon juice and hot glue,” and an appearance from actress, comedian, and 2014 Stern Show guest Mindy Kaling, who appears taken aback by a life-like, open-mouthed sex doll.

“Why did you get a sex doll of your old roommate?” her character asks Mac (above) after he unveils a doll that looks just like Dennis (Glenn Howerton).

“I was super sad, and you said I needed something Dennis-shaped to fill my hole,” Mac responds.

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Season 13 debuts Wednesday, Sept. 5 on FXX. Watch the trailer (above)
