VIDEO: Bradley Cooper Has His Eye on a Drug-Running Clint Eastwood in ‘The Mule’ Trailer
New film marks Eastwood’s first time pulling double duty directing and acting since 2008's “Gran Torino”
October 8, 2018Trouble looms for Clint Eastwood in the new trailer for “The Mule” even as he promises to cut ties with a dangerous drug cartel he’s been trafficking narcotics for.
“I didn’t deserve forgiveness. This is the last one. So help me God, this is the last one,” Eastwood’s character Earl Stone tells himself (above).
His vow may be too little too late, though, as the watchful eye of the DEA, including a particularly formidable agent played by Bradley Cooper, trails his every move. Now, the driving job that was supposed to solve his financial woes and problems at home may leave him worse off than before he began smuggling drugs.
“Family’s the most important thing. Don’t do what I did. I put work in front of family,” Eastwood also says in the trailer. “I thought it was more important to be somebody out there than the failure I was in my own home.”
“The Mule” marks the first film in 10 years that Eastwood is both directing and acting in – his last double-duty project was 2008’s “Gran Torino.” The upcoming film will also reunite Clint with Cooper, whom he directed in “American Sniper.”
When Bradley Cooper visited the Stern Show in 2015, he told Howard how close he and Clint became while working on “American Sniper” together. “I’d call him a good buddy, a good friend,” Bradley said while also telling Howard how Eastwood was a Stern Show listener.
