VIDEO: Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly Play Clueless Detectives in First ‘Holmes & Watson’ Trailer

Victorian England-set comedy co-stars Rebecca Hall, Steve Coogan, Hugh Laurie, and Ralph Fiennes

“Step Brothers” and “Talladega Nights” stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have reunited once again in the official trailer for “Holmes & Watson,” an upcoming comedy in which they play bumbling versions of fiction’s most famous super sleuths.

Set in Victorian England and inspired by the many works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the film follows the brilliant yet clueless Sherlock Holmes (Ferrell) and his trusty, heroin-prescribing sidekick Dr. Watson (Reilly) as they spend a few days at Buckingham Palace in the hopes of preventing the Queen from being murdered.

The detective duo may wind up doing more harm than good, however, and the trailer (above) points the two toward unleashing a colony of killer bees, inventing the selfie stick, and inspiring the invention of the phrase “no shit, Sherlock.” Even if they can somehow manage to avoid tripping over their own feet, they’ll still have to overcome the evil machinations of Holmes’ arch-nemesis, Moriarty (Ralph Fiennes).

Directed by Etan Cohen (“Get Hard”), the film co-stars Rebecca Hall, Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald, Hugh Laurie, and Steve Coogan.

“Holmes & Watson” opens Dec. 25.
