VIDEO: Ellen DeGeneres Jokes About Her Image, Wealth, and Sexuality in Trailer for Stand-Up Return

One of daytime TV’s biggest stars has returned to where her career all began: the stand-up stage.

Netflix just released the trailer for “Relatable,” Ellen DeGeneres’ long-awaited return to stand-up comedy. Filmed at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, the special marks the comedian, talk show host, and past Stern Show guest’s first stand-up special in 15 years.

The two-minute trailer (above) shows Ellen tackling a variety of both serious and lighthearted subjects. She explains how coming out about her sexuality led to the cancellation of her 1990s sitcom, and she jokes about still relating to her audiences, despite now having a butler, a library, and first-class accommodations.

Ellen also reveals the drawback to being thought of as an exceedingly nice person. “A few years ago, I started ending my show by saying ‘be kind to one another.’ But here’s the downside: I can never do anything unkind, ever,” she jokes (above). “I shouldn’t even have a horn in my car. Like, if someone cuts me off in a dangerous way, if I honk, they’re like, ‘Ellen!?’”

In addition to jokes, the clip also features Ellen dancing around on stage. It’s something the entertainer has been known to do on her daytime TV show as well and she actually discussed her dancing proclivity with Howard during her 2015 Stern Show debut. Watch a clip of their conversation (below).
