Adam Levine’s life is literally unraveling in “Wait,” the latest music video from his band Maroon 5.
It’s the second video for the band’s recent single, following one Adam shot himself on Snapchat. Unlike the previous effort, however, which mostly featured the frontman relaxing around the house, this new Dave Meyers-directed video (above) proves quite eventful for the Maroon 5 singer and frequent Stern Show guest.
It starts with him emerging from a coffin in his underwear so he can crash a funeral and bring his half-naked ex-girlfriend (“True Detective” actress Alexandra Daddario) back to life with a scorpion.
The lyrics for "Wait" depict a man disinclined to let the woman he loves walk out of his life and Adam’s character in this new video tries all sorts of tactics to prevent Daddario from dumping him. But the results—including a scene where he gets his head bashed in with a bottle of malt liquor—are comically awful. The video ends on a dour note, too, as Daddario’s character drives away from Adam for good, causing his life (and actual being) to come apart at the seams.
“Wait” is the second single off Maroon 5’s “Red Pill Blues” album, following the sizzling SZA team up “What Lovers Do.” Additionally, Adam recently released another inspired track much to the delight of Stern Show listeners, joining forces with Stern Show co-host Robin Quivers to deliver an unforgettable rendition of the Christmas classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Listen to their duet (below) and watch the video for "Wait" (above).
