Alden Ehrenreich stars as a hotshot spaceship pilot who can’t trust anyone but his Wookiee in the final trailer for “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” the Han Solo-focused origin story blasting into theaters this May.

While “Star Wars” fans know Han is destined to eventually become one of the rebellion’s most beloved heroes, the newly released trailer for the Ron Howard-directed spin-off (above) makes it clear “Solo” focuses on the character when he’s still just a wannabe smuggler. “I’m a driver and I’m a flyer. I waited a long time for a shot like this,” Alden explains early on.

However, as Qi’ra (“Game of Thrones” starlet Emilia Clarke) points out, Han is still “a little rough around the edges.” Thankfully, he soon meets two seasoned criminals more than willing to show him the ropes: Lando Calrissian, portrayed here by Grammy and Emmy winner Donald Glover, and Beckett, played by actor and repeat Stern Show guest Woody Harrelson.

“Let me give you some advice: assume everyone will betray you and you will never be disappointed,” Beckett cautions him (above).

While Han definitely develops a few trust issues before Harrison Ford debuts the character in 1977’s “Star Wars: A New Hope,” the “Solo” trailer does show him forming a lasting bond with one familiar face: Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), his longtime Wookiee sidekick who is revealed to be 190 years old.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story,” co-starring Paul Bettany, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Jon Favreau, opens May 25. Watch the official trailer (above).
