VIDEO: Jake Gyllenhaal Takes on Hired Killers Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly in Genre-Bending Western ‘The Sisters Brothers’

Jacques Audiard-directed film hits theaters this fall

May 24, 2018

Oscar-nominated actor and Stern Show veteran Jake Gyllenhaal stars as gold prospector Hermann Kermit Warm in the genre-bending western “The Sisters Brothers,” opening later this year.

In the new trailer (above), Hermann gets pursued through the Old West by Eli (John C. Reilly) and Charlie Sisters (Joaquin Phoenix), two hired guns contracted to hunt Hermann down after he stole money from their boss. Further complicating matters is Morris (Riz Ahmed), a skilled chemist Hermann meets who has seemingly developed a surefire way to get them more gold than they can squeeze into their saddle bags.

Gyllenhaal, also starring in the upcoming indie drama “Wildlife,” joined the Stern Show back in 2015 and discussed a wide range of subjects with Howard, including some of the other quirky roles he has been drawn to, like “Bubble Boy,” co-starring legendary Wack Packer Beetlejuice.

“The Sisters Brothers” is directed by Jacques Audiard (“Dheepan”) and adapted from Patrick Dewitt’s novel of the same name. It costars Rutger Hauer and Carol Kane and is slated to hit theaters this fall. Watch the trailer (above).
