VIDEO: Hugh Jackman Double-Crosses Faux Rival Ryan Reynolds in Ad for Marvel Stars’ Gin and Coffee Brands

The “Logan” and “Deadpool” actors’ funny spot follows a recently announced social media truce

Just like a leopard cannot change its spots, a wolverine—it seems—cannot retract its claws.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds released a joint commercial shortly after the actors turned rival Marvel superheroes announced a truce on their faux social media feud, but Wolverine wound-up double-crossing Deadpool in the end.

The clip starts off benignly enough as the recent “Logan” and “Deadpool 2” stars reveal they’ve agreed to help shill each other’s products in an effort to bury the hatchet. Ryan goes first, unveiling a glowing, masterfully-produced endorsement for Jackman’s Laughing Man Coffee. “It cost a million dollars,” he tells him with a straight face.

But Hugh returns the favor with an Adamantium claw to the back, revealing his spot for Reynolds’ Aviation American Gin is just him cursing the Canadian actor out before knocking over a bottle of the spirit all over a table. Check it out (above).

While Hugh never addressed the movie stars’ fake feud during his November visit to the Stern Show, he did open up to Howard about what it’s like to play a Marvel superhero and why he decided to end his run as Wolverine after nearly 20 years. Watch a clip from the sit-down (below) and check out Jackman’s full interview with Howard here.
