VIDEO: Lily Tomlin, Snoop Dogg, and Neil Patrick Harris Celebrate ‘Laugh-In’ With Celebrity-Filled Special
“Still Laugh-In: The Stars Celebrate” debuts May 14 on Netflix
May 9, 2019Hollywood’s biggest celebrities are joining forces later this month to celebrate the classic sketch-comedy show “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In” with a new hour-long Netflix special.
“Still Laugh-In: The Stars Celebrate” will feature 2018 Stern Show guest and former “Laugh In” stand-out Lily Tomlin alongside a bevy of entertainment and comedy legends as they pay homage to the iconic show, which debuted over 50 years ago, and its director-producer George Schlatter. The one-evening special will offer “modern takes on timeless moments,” per the description, and Tomlin will even revive several of her most popular characters, including Ernestine and Edith Ann.
The special guests will include Stern Show veterans J.B. Smoove, Neil Patrick Harris, Chelsea Handler, Snoop Dogg, Jeff Ross, Mary McCormack, Nikki Glaser, Bobby Moynihan, and Michael Rapaport as well as Michael Douglas, Billy Crystal, Tiffany Haddish, Rita Moreno, Natasha Leggero, Cheri Oteri, Rob Riggle, Margaret Cho, Taye Diggs, Tony Hale, and even former “Laugh-In” star Ruth Buzzi.
“[‘Laugh-In’ was] cutting edge and paved the way for shows like ‘SNL’ and ‘In Living Colour,’” Jay Leno explains onstage in the teaser (above).
Tomlin, however, told Howard she didn’t initially see it that way. When she joined the Stern Show in 2018, Lily revealed she originally turned down a spot on the variety show because she “thought ‘Laugh-In’ was square” at first. Check out more of her and Jane Fonda’s conversation with Howard here.
