In Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 Oscar winner “Inglourious Basterds,” Brad Pitt makes a point of killing as many Nazis as he can. In the acclaimed director’s latest effort, it’s Pitt’s co-star Leonardo DiCaprio who gets in on the Nazi-slaying action.

On Tuesday, Sony dropped the official trailer for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Tarantino’s upcoming film about aging TV star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double (Pitt). Set in 1969, during Hollywood’s Golden Age, the story takes place after Dalton’s glory days are mostly behind him. “It’s official old buddy, I’m a has-been,” DiCaprio’s character declares at one point.

But the clip teases some of Dalton’s finer moments, too, including training with Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) and bringing the hurt to a group of Nazi soldiers. “Anybody order fried sauerkraut?” Dalton yells while waving around a flamethrower. “Fry, you Nazi bastards!”

The clip also hints at a precipitous storyline between the Manson Family, including Dakota Fanning as Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, and its most high-profile murder victim: actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” also starring Al Pacino, Maya Hawke, Timothy Olyphant, Lena Dunham, and the late Luke Perry, is the ninth film from Tarantino, who said in previous interviews he may retire after directing number ten. When visiting the Stern Show in 2012, however, Tarantino suggested those plans might not be set in stone. “If I’m 67 and I can still make a movie and I come up with a cool story, maybe I’ll do it. But I don’t want to be an old man, film director, past his prime. I don’t want to be a director whose best work is behind him,” he told Howard. “I want my best work to be in front of me.”

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” opens July 26 in theaters.
