VIDEO: Billie Eilish Makes Her Directorial Debut With ‘Xanny’

Singer also plays an ashtray in the latest video off smash-hit first album

December 10, 2019

The year of Billie Eilish continues as the pop star has released her directorial debut for the song “xanny,” off her hit album, “When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”

Fresh off six Grammy nominations, the singer, who made her Stern Show debut this past September, was excited to share her first behind-the-camera effort. “Visuals are so important to me, and I’m very proud to be in a place where I can present my creative vision exactly as I want it,” Eilish said on social media. “Thank you to everyone who has put their trust in me.”

Clocking in at just under four and a half minutes, the video stars Eilish as an ashtray, oblivious to the constant stream of cigarettes being put out on her face. Despite the title, the song is decisively anti-drug. “I’m in their second-hand smoke, still just drinking canned Coke, I don’t need a xanny to feel better,” she sings.
