A mysterious menace preys on the citizens of Salem, Mass., and Adam Sandler’s socially awkward community volunteer is the only one who can save them in the new trailer for Netflix’s family comedy “Hubie Halloween.”

The repeat Stern Show guest and “Saturday Night Live” veteran stars as Hubie Dubois, an eccentric Halloween enthusiast whose Oct. 31 pastimes include patrolling his neighborhood for danger, ensuring children play safely, and alerting authorities to even the slightest hint of impropriety. The threat to his community seems all too real this year, however, as a criminal has escaped and Salem’s citizens are suddenly going missing. Unable to convince small-town cops Kenan Thompson and Kevin James that true danger is afoot, Hubie must crack the spooky case on his own.

Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Tim Meadows, Noah Schnapp, Steve Buscemi, Paris Berelc, and Maya Rudolph co-star in the comedy which Sandler’s company Happy Madison produced.

Adam has memorably sat down with Howard multiple times over the years, last visiting the show in December ahead of the recent Oscar contender “Uncut Gems.” The conversation that day covered plenty of ground, including how Howard inspired one of his characters, his friendship with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and his 1995 departure from “Saturday Night Live.” Watch a clip from Howard’s interview with Sandler (below).

“Hubie Halloween” drops Oct. 7 on Netflix.
