AUDIO: Chris Stapleton Releases Heartfelt New Ballad ‘Cold’

Track appears on the country music superstar’s November album “Starting Over”

September 25, 2020

Country music superstar and 2017 Stern Show guest Chris Stapleton croons about heartbreak, deep-cutting knives, and broken windows in the brand-new song “Cold.”

Released Thursday, the slow-burn ballad is the second single off the Grammy winner’s November album “Starting Over,” which contains 11 fresh originals and three covers, including a rendition of fellow Stern Show veteran John Fogerty’s song “Joy of My Life.” The album will serve as the singer-songwriter’s fourth studio effort overall and his first since 2018’s “From A Room: Volume 2.”

When Chris made his Stern Show debut a few years back he sat with Howard for a wide-ranging interview covering everything from the origins of his career to performing at the birthday party of pop star and eventual collaborator Justin Timberlake. Stapleton also put on an acoustic concert of sorts for Howard and his listeners. Check out his live, in-studio rendition of “Broken Halos” (below).

Chris Stapleton “Starting Over” arrives Nov. 13.
