Jake Gyllenhaal plays a 911 operator having a very rough day at work in the official trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s crime-thriller “The Guilty,” arriving Oct. 1 on Netflix.

Gyllenhaal stars as Joe Bayler, a troubled L.A.P.D detective recently demoted to operator duty. After a routine morning dealing with robberies, fires, and missing persons, he fields a harrowing call from a woman being held hostage in a moving vehicle. He pleads with his colleagues to help him find and rescue her, but he’s on his own after fires in the area render air support useless.

“There is a scared little girl whose mother has been abducted,” the Oscar-nominated actor screams (above), but it soon becomes apparent not all is as it seems.

Adapted from a 2018 Danish film of the same name, “The Guilty” is directed by Fuqua (“The Equalizer”) and written by Nic Pizzolatto (“True Detective”). Ethan Hawke, Riley Keough, Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, and fellow Stern Show veteran Bill Burr reportedly also star in the movie, though only Gyllenhaal is seen in the official trailer.

“The Guilty” debuts Oct. 1 on Netflix.
