Howard Supports Dolly Parton for Bowing Out of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Consideration
“Imagine how insulting it is, for a woman who wrote some of the greatest songs in history, to have Gary [Dell’Abate] voting,” he says of the Stern Show executive producer, who is part of the voting committee
March 22, 2022Country music icon Dolly Parton recently made waves for a Twitter post in which she politely requested to be taken out of consideration for the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class. On Tuesday morning, Howard praised the singer for her decision. “Good for her … The coolest thing you can do is say no to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he said of her act of rebellion, before jokingly fantasizing about what he defiantly wanted to say when he inducted Bon Jovi in 2018. “[Jon] sold 80 million albums and you made him wait to get in behind the 1910 Fruitgum Company?”
As he has been in the past, Howard was critical of Gary Dell’Abate’s position on the Rock Hall’s voting committee. “Imagine how insulting it is, for a woman who wrote some of the greatest songs in history, to have Gary … voting on whether she’s worthy of being in,” he remarked before bringing up examples of the Stern Show executive producer’s judgment. “Gary’s the guy who judged the iPad and gave it a thumbs down.”
