Greta Gerwig and Don Cheadle co-star in Noah Baumbach’s apocalyptic comedy

Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig’s patchwork family is put to the ultimate test after an airborne toxic event threatens to destroy their entire town in “White Noise,” an apocalyptic comedy from director Noah Baumbach.

Driver stars as Jack, a professor who already has his hands full with four children and a fourth wife (Gerwig) when a nearby chemical spill brings chaos and destruction to his doorstep. Not even the threat of imminent doom can keep mundane family conflicts off his plate, however.

“Doesn’t anyone want to pay attention to what’s actually happening?” Driver’s character asks his kids amid a trailer filled with trucks flipping over, exploding trains, and the family station wagon floating down the river.

Based on the beloved 1985 novel by Don DeLillo, “White Noise” co-stars Don Cheadle, Raffey Cassidy, Jodie Turner-Smith, and André Benjamin. “White Noise” is Baumbach’s third straight film featuring Driver, following “Marriage Story” and “The Meyerowitz Stories.” Altogether, the two have teamed up five times throughout Adam’s career — a career the actor was happy to discuss when he sat down with Howard in 2015 for an interview that covered everything from his role in the “Star Wars” franchise to his love for the Marine Corps. Check out a clip from their conversation (below).

“White Noise” debuts in theaters and on Netflix on Dec. 30.
