Song hails from the heavy metal band’s new album “72 Seasons”

Metallica pays homage to darkness, light, and perhaps even a Wiz Khalifa song in their black and yellow music video for “Chasing Light,” a thrashing, thunderous track off the legendary foursome’s 11th studio album, “72 Seasons.”

“Chasing Light” is the fifth track to get a music video off the album, which dropped Friday, just two days after Metallica sat down with Howard and performed live for the Stern Show from SiriusXM’s L.A. studios.

Frontman James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo covered a range of subjects during the interview, from their early days touring with Ozzy Osbourne and the creation of “Enter Sandman” to how light and darkness are two of the most important themes on “72 Seasons.” They also performed “Lux Æterna,” covered Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page,” and delivered an acoustic rendition of “Blackened.”

The band also spoke about making music videos, telling Howard how they came up with the concept for “One,” their first video to make it onto MTV. Watch a clip from the conversation (below) and look back at more of Howard’s interview with Metallica here.

Metallica’s “72 Seasons” is available now.
