Stern Show executive producer Gary Dell’Abate loves the New York Mets so of course, when SiriusXM asked him what his favorite baseball memory was he was ready with a story about his hometown team.

“My favorite baseball memory is going to Game 6 of the 1986 World Series with my dad,” Gary says in the video (above). “It was the greatest game I’ve ever been to.”

With Gary and his father watching in the stands of Shea Stadium, Red Sox first baseman Bill Bucker allowed a ground ball to roll through his legs, ending the 10th inning and allowing the Mets to tie the series, which they would go on to win two nights later.

“When the ball went through Buckner’s legs I literally thought Shea Stadium was going to fall down,” Gary recalls. “The entire stadium started to rock.”
