Prolific voice actress June Foray passed last week at the age of 99 after an 85-year career in entertainment highlighted by her iconic role as Rocky from “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show,” among countless other characters across nearly 300 animated productions.

“We met her years ago in the ‘80s,” Howard remembered on Monday. “She came on our show and did a bunch of bits, which we wrote.”

“You could write anything with Rocky in it and she’d read it,” Robin added.

June continued to appear on the Stern Show throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, usually using the voice of her famous flying squirrel cartoon character while Howard took on the role of Bullwinkle. The Stern Show’s bits tended to veer from the source material, however. Check out one of June’s classic live reads (below).

While June was always game to voice Rocky, her employers weren’t quite as keen to it and eventually asked her to keep her legendary voice off the Stern Show.

But what Howard said he’ll probably remembered best of June is a voice she did on “The Twilight Zone.”

“The reason I loved her the most and admired her the most,” he revealed, “was a ‘Twilight Zone’ episode that freaked me out so bad that I used to have nightmares as a little boy.”

June—who was the original voice of the famous Chatty Cathy doll—played a killer doll named Talky Tina in the 1963 episode entitled “Living Doll.”

“What a voice—she was so good,” Howard praised.
