VIDEO: Jason Bateman Launders Money for Drug Cartels in ‘Ozark’ Trailer

Netflix drama premieres July 21

July 12, 2017

Jason Bateman might be best known for starring in comedies, but by the looks of the official trailer for his Netflix series “Ozark,” things are about to get very dark and dramatic.

The actor, director, and past Stern Show guest stars as Marty Byrde, a financial planner by day and a Mexican drug cartel money laundering expert by night. After his partner gets murdered, however, Marty uproots his wife (Laura Linney), kids, and entire money laundering operation, winding up in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains.

Bateman is also executive producing “Ozark” and has directed four episodes, including the pilot. He and Linney’s co-stars include Julia Garner (“The Americans”), Jason Butler Harner (“Ray Donovan”), Marc Menchaca (“Homeland”), Esai Morales (“NYPD Blue”), and Harris Yulin (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”).

Bateman most recently visited the Stern Show in 2014 when he discussed his early days in Hollywood, “Bad Words,” and his other Netflix series “Arrested Development,” which returns in 2018 for Season 5. Read more about his sit-down with Howard here.

“Ozark” premieres July 21 on Netflix. Check out the trailer (above).
